INEC Recieves Petition Seeking Recall Of Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan By Constituents

The Independent National Electoral Commission has recieved a recall petition from Kogi Central Constituents against the Senator representing the district at the National Assembly, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

The submission of the petition follows a collation exercise of signatures by her constituents which started a week ago.

"Earlier today, the Hon. Secretary to the Commission, Mrs. Rose Oriaran Anthony, and other senior staff members of the Commission received a petition from registered voters from the Kogi West Senatorial District for the recall of the Senator representing the District, Mrs Natasha H Akpoti- Uduaghan.

The petition was submitted on their behalf by a team led by the Chairperson of the Kogi Women Development Association, Omole Charity Ijese."

Meanwhile ,the Ogori Women Initiative has denounced the alleged scheme to tarnish the reputation of Ogori women through an individual claiming to be an Ogori woman, who is leading the recall process of the lawmaker representing Kogi Central senatorial district, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

They noted that the women of Ogori are known for integrity and stand for truth which they placed above monetary gains and the recent development where the image of the women of the community have been dragged to the mud through an individual parading herself as one of them, leading the recall process of  Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan is strange.

"The women of Ogori are known for their integrity and commitment to truth, prioritizing these values above monetary gains. However, a recent development has raised questions, as an individual claiming to be part of us who has been spearheading the recall process of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, tarnishing our hard-earned reputation", they said.

They added that the true identity of the woman that allowed herself to be used as a ploy to recall a fellow woman and first Senator from Kogi State who has outperformed her predecessors call to question.

"We, the women of Ogori, strongly support Senator Natasha. We understand the challenges of raising a girl child to her position in our society. She is a role model for our daughters, breaking barriers and changing perceptions about women's leadership."

"We distance ourselves from the shenanigans being at play, Senator Natasha has changed the narrative and the leadership priority, you will always have our support. "

The women also called on the Chairman of Ogori-Mangongo local government, Hon. Rosemary to desist from using security officials to intimidate the women of the local government kicking against the recall process.

They warned that the people of the local government are known for peace, truth and integrity and will not comprise these values  for personal gains.
