Breaking: Kristy Coventry Becomes First Woman , African To Be Elected Intl Olympics President


 

Kirsty Coventry has been elected the new International Olympic Committee President. 

The Zimbabwean is a two-time Olympic swimming champion and the first woman as well as the first African to hold the post. At 41, she’s also the youngest ever IOC president.

Coventry, who is Zimbabwe's Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, becomes the IOC's first female president and the first African to occupy the influential position.
