One of Nigeria's foremost airlines United Nigeria on Thursday grounded one of it's planes from taking off
The Lagos Asaba flight scheduled for 7am was stopped from flying due to the unruly behaviour of a passenger
According to a statement issued by the airline, the unamed passenger was very hostile to the crew of the aeroplane and all efforts made to pacify him proved abortive leading to the cancellation of the flight and disembarking of already checked in passengers
This according to the airline was for safety reasons based on international protocols and laws
The airline said the incident affected other flights on the airline's movements for the day
Meanwhile, several people have taken to the social media page of the airline to either support or condemn their action

"Dear United Nigeria Airline, first tell is what transpired and don't make yourself look righteous.
Your airline has been notorious of recent when it comes to flight delays and rescheduling.
Your 4:15pm Flight from Abuja to Lagos on Friday 13th December was moved without any text or email to passengers. Imagine my surprise at getting to the check-in counter only to be told that the flight left by 2pm and that I should wait till 7:30 pm.
We waited till few minutes before 10pm before before we boarded.
Not even a single announcement by the Airline about the delay and even after boarding, not even a simple apology from the crew to the passengers.
They simply dumped us in Lagos by past 11pm and the luggage took another 30 mins to come out.
When passengers protest, you tend to demonise them but won't do anything to appeal to them. Your staff are so unruly and untrained that I wonder if they don't see other airline staff.
Before you come for me, please do well to check the manifest of the flight and arm yourself very well with the right information.
The passengers also deserve the right services. No passenger after paying your ridiculously high fee will just board a plane to make troubles. The fact that the NCAA laws tend to protect the Airlines more than the passengers should not be taken for granted too."

You people have said your part but we have not heard from the passenger. At times airlines treat passengers as no body. Sometimes undue delays and yet no communication with passengers and no explanation of any sort. While no one encourages violence from any passenger, airlines should do well to have respect for their passengers.

Uche Nwankwo No matter what happened , verbal or physical assault is a no no in aviation. He can be blacklisted for life by the airline or spend some time behind the bars like another unruly fellow on a domestic airline last year.
