The immediate past Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Enema Paul, has died. He passed away in the early hours of Saturday at a private hospital in Abuja following an undisclosed illness.
Hon. Paul, who represented Okura State Constituency in the current 8th Assembly of Kogi State, resigned from his position as Deputy Speaker due to health reasons. He was subsequently replaced by Hon. Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola, representing Ibaji State Constituency.
In response to the news of his passing, the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, extended his condolences to the family of the late legislator. In a press statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Yabagi Mohammed, Rt. Hon. Yusuf described Hon. Paul as a humble, temperate, and committed public servant who was deeply devoted to the unity and progress of Kogi State.
“Hon. Paul was a team player and a man of great integrity, whose legislative efforts were driven by a genuine desire to promote pro-people policies for the development of the state,” the Speaker stated. He further noted that the late Deputy Speaker was a devoted Christian known for his unwavering commitment to family values and interfaith harmony.
The Speaker offered prayers for strength and fortitude for Hon. Paul’s family, friends, and colleagues in the Kogi State Assembly to bear the loss. The late legislator’s contributions to governance and his legacy of service will be fondly remembered.
Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced as tributes continue to pour in from across the state.
