The ruling New Patriotic Party candidate, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, said in a major press conference he had called his main challenger John Mahama to congratulate him.
"The people of Ghana have spoken, the people have voted for change at this time and we respect it with all humility," Bawumia said.
18.7 million Ghanaians registered to vote across 40,975 polling stations in Ghana’s Saturday elections, December 7, 2024. International and local observers said the elections were peaceful, free, and fair.
According to several surveys, the decline in the living standards of Ghanaians as a result of a failed economy turned voters against the ruling party.
