Kingsley Udoh Weeps Over Missing U-17 World Cup Gold Medal

Nigeria defender Kingsley Udoh is crestfallen over the loss of his FIFA U-17 World Cup gold medal, which he said could have helped him overcome his current despondent situation.

The 33-year-old was a key member of the Golden Eaglets that won the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup in South Korea, from where he gladly returned with the gold medal that was kept by his late father.

Speaking on Brila FM on Wednesday, Udoh, who represented Nigeria at all levels of international football, said he hasn’t seen the medal since his father’s passing, adding that he can neither feed himself nor cater for incidental needs, including pursuing a coaching course.

“I can’t find my U-17 FIFA World Cup gold medal. My father was in charge of it. Since he passed, I have not seen the medal. It’s so bad. I am struggling to feed. I can’t even attend a coaching course as I would have liked because of lack of funds,” lamented Udoh, who also carved a niche for himself in the domestic league with meritorious spells at Akwa United, Heartland, Kano Pillars, and Sunshine Stars.

He was also an integral part of the Flying Eagles team that won the African U-17 Championship in 2007, which preceded the cadet tournament in Asia.
