Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has suspended the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Moses Ekuma, and the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Francis Ori.
The suspension, which was announced on Monday, November 25, 2024, follows allegations of gross misconduct and dereliction of duty.
The Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Jude Okpor, confirmed the suspension in a statement.
Though the exact reasons for the suspension were not explicitly stated, it’s believed to be connected to recent incidents, including the alleged theft of government property by health ministry officials and the underperformance of the Housing and Urban Development commissioner.
Governor Nwifuru had personally visited the health ministry premises on Saturday night and apprehended six individuals suspected of diverting government materials.
The governor has vowed to hold those responsible accountable.
