Former militant warlord, Mujahid Asari Dokubo, says President Bola Tinubu has betrayed him.
In a trending video, Dokubo, who campaigned actively for the president, said despite working for Tinubu’s emergence, he has been neglected.
He vowed to form an alliance with the North, saying after risking his life for Yoruba people, he got nothing.
He said, “I apologise to our fathers because they were not wrong in forming an alliance with the North, and as young men, we will now start that same alliance.
“From today, I will work and form an alliance with the North. President Tinubu betrayed me after I spent all my money and emptied my bank account campaigning for him. The Tinubu I know now isn’t the Tinubu I used to know. We will take this message across that only the Northerners can work with the Ijaw people.
“We can’t work with Yoruba people; they are a betrayal to us. We risked our lives by voting and doing everything, and this is what we get?”
It is unclear when Dokubo fell out with Tinubu but there have been signs since reports that his visit to the Presidential Villa embarrassed the president.
The former militant met with Tinubu less than a month after the president assumed office and addressed reporters at the villa.
“The President is a strong President. He is going to take decisive actions to get rid of the rotten eggs. It is not the whole Army and Navy that are bad but there are a few who have this entitlement mentality, thinking they have God fathers that are behind them but the President is going to remove such people and make it possible for the people of this country to benefit,” he had said after the meeting
