Prof. Zacheaus Adangor, the Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, has resigned.
His retirement was submitted to Governor Sim Fubara in a letter dated November 14, 2023.
He stated that his resignation was motivated by personal values and had nothing to do with the state's current political situation.
“I hereby give Your Excellency Notice of my resignation as the Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Rivers State with effect from the date of this letter
“For the avoidance of doubt, from the said office is based on personal principles,” the letter read in part.
Adangor, who served in the immediate past administration of Nyesom Wike, Fubara’s predecessor, thanked the governor for considering him worthy to serve.
The resignation comes on the heels of the demolition of the State House of Assembly at the instance of Fubara and presentation of the the 2024 budget to four pro-Fubara lawmakers led by Edison Ehie.
Adangor according to CKNNews investigation was nominated and appointed to the cabinet by Nyesom Wike , whom many in the Fubara government believe he is loyal to.
Many in the cabinet find it difficult relating with him in fuĺl confidence since the crisis began because of his closeness to Wike
