An official of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps , Shem Obafiaye, who became popular because of the 'Oga At The Top' phrase in 2013, has attained the rank of Deputy Commandant General.
A decade after the Channels Television interview where Obafiaye playfully struggled to disclose the NSCDC website, he, and two officers, Fasiu Adeyinka and Raji Ibrahim, have been appointed Deputy Commandants-General of the NSCDC by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo
Announcing the promotion on Friday, Tunji-Ojo wrote on X, “As the chairman of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), I decorated the three new Deputy Commandants General of the #official_NSCDC today.”
Obafiaye gained national recognition in 2013 during an interview on Channels Television, where he humorously deferred the task of revealing the NSCDC website to his "Oga at the top."
He said “The one (website) that we are going to make use of is going to be made known by my Oga at the top. Yes. I can’t announce one now, and my Oga says it’s another one that we are going to use.
“If you want to know about NSCDC as at now. Ok, www.nscdc…. That’s all.”
That segment of the interview became viral on social media, with music DJs spinning a ’remix’ of the interview and shirts with the ‘Oga at the top’ logo’ being sold on online stores.
