Following the killing of Ali Kachalla by security operatives, the bandits elected a new leader even after a rebellion by some members of the group.
The source said, “These guys have elected Dan Rani who acted after Ali Kachalla was killed. He is reported as being a warrior who was very close to Ali Kachalla but more level-headed than Damina. The concern now, however, is what Damina will do considering that he has been edged out.”
The source called on the federal government to deploy both kinetic and non-kinetic options in sorting out the crisis in the North West which has left thousands of people dead over the years and many others injured or in captivity.
