In a remarkable show of statesmanship, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been extolled for his pivotal role in peacefully resolving the recent political turmoil in Ondo State.
The Social Rehabilitation Support and Grace Initiative, led by its convener Dr. Charles Oludare (Márìndọ̀tí), has issued a public statement expressing gratitude for the President's calm and decisive intervention.
The group acknowledges President Tinubu's exceptional poise and determination in ensuring tranquility across Nigeria, especially in Ondo State. "While it's regrettable that the President had to divert his attention from pertinent national duties to address the misconduct of politicians in Ondo State, his grace and leadership in this crisis are profoundly appreciated," said Dr. Oludare in the statement.
In addition to commending President Tinubu, the convener also calls on all groups, specifically mentioning Omoyele Sowore, the convener of the Revolution Now movement, not the upset the new found peace in Ondo State. The statement emphasizes that the people of Ondo State have endured much and do not need further agitation or attention-seeking behavior that could disrupt their progress.
The Group also issued a strong message to the Executive Council of Ondo State and the Ondo State National Assembly. It urged them to refocus on their primary responsibilities, emphasizing that no personal ambition should overshadow the governance and service delivery obligations to the people.
In a special mention, the statement encouraged Acting Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to uphold and build upon the legacy of his boss, Governor Akeredolu. "Governor Akeredolu demonstrated immense trust and confidence in choosing Aiyedatiwa as his running mate. It is now imperative that he honors this trust by fulfilling his promises to the people of Ondo State," Dr. Oludare stated.
Lastly, the Initiative expressed heartfelt wishes for Governor Rotimi Akeredolu's speedy recovery. The group conveyed its sincere hopes for his triumphant return to state affairs, recognizing his ongoing battle with health challenges. "We stand with Governor Akeredolu during this trying time as he fights the biggest battle of his life and eagerly await his victorious comeback," added Dr. Oludare.
