A former Senate President and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), David Mark, has lost his first son.
CKN News learned that the son of the former Senate President, Tunde Mark, died of cancer in the early hours of Friday in London, United Kingdom.
A close family source said that the corpse is expected to be flown to Nigeria in the coming days for proper burial.
Tunde Mark Cause Of Death
Mark died in the early hours of Friday at the age of 51 in the United Kingdom (UK) after a protracted battle with cancer.
His corpse is expected to be flown back to the country in the coming days for burial.
Reports say sympathisers have been trooping into the GRA Otukpo residence of Senator Mark to condole the family over the unfortunate incident.
Brief Biography Of Tunde Mark
The deceased was born on the 13th of October 1971 in Otukpo LGA of Benue State.
He attended Yaba Military School which is located in Yaba, Lagos where he obtained his first school leaving certificate.
Tunde Mark later proceeded to Fernden Prep School, Haslemere, Surrey, in the UK where he attended Secondary school.
Tunde is a Biochemist who obtained a B.Sc degree from Kings College, London.
He studied immunology alongside biochemistry and later Biological Sciences at the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, Harvard, and Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was married to the daughter of a Chinese senator and blessed with a daughter.
David Mark Biography
David Mark is a former military governor of Niger State appointed in 1984 by then Head of State and current Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari.
After the administration of Buhari was toppled in a palace coup, Mark was then appointed Minister of Communication by General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida.
He was forced to flee the country in 1993 by the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha.
Mark, however, returned to the country in 1998 and contested the senate seat for Benue South Senatorial District in 1999 which he won. He was reelected in 2003, 2007, 2011, and 2015 and retired in 2019.
He was elected senate president in 2007 and 2011 and to this day remains, Nigeria’s longest senate president.
His daughter, Blessing Onuh is the current member representing the Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives
