The Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Oladide Adediran and his running mate, Funke Akindele, on Saturday, visited a man, whose vehicle was among those recently auctioned by the Lagos State government over traffic law infringement.
In a video shared on the Twitter handle of Adediran, the man, Osinachi Ndukwe, narrated his ordeal and how his daughter died while he was in prison and he still ended up forfeiting his vehicle to the government.
Responding, Adediran said, “The purpose for which a government is in power is to see to our welfare. That is not to say that if you go on the wrong side of the law, you won’t be penalised. But what we are saying is that we don’t want a penalty that will take people's livelihood away from them…We have come to see how we can provide succour to your plight.”
Ndukwe’s vehicle was impounded by the Lagos State government for flouting traffic laws.
