The Governor also has this to say about his mother
"This evening, we held the lying in state and service of songs for my mother, Chief (Mrs) Abigail Omojolagbe Amope Makinde (nee Omoregie). I feel privileged because I got to share nearly fifty-three years of my life with her, and I will treasure the beautiful memories I have of her.
I thank everyone who came from near and far to attend the funeral ceremonies. I especially thank my brothers, Governors Douye Diri, Rotimi Akeredolu and Godwin Obaseki, for taking time off governance to spend the evening with my family."
