A retired Deputy Controller General, DCG of Prisons, Dr. Adewale Oloyede has been murdered by unknown gunmen in Kogi State.
The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Prisons Service (NPS), DCP Francis Enobore disclosed this in a statement on Monday evening. According to the statement, Dr Oloyede was killed alongside his Orderly, SIP Dauda Yusuf Michael by yet to be identified gunmen, near Osara town in Kogi State.
Enobore said the retired officer was traveling to Lagos in his private car when they were attacked at about 3pm on Friday 1st February, 2019.
A medical doctor by profession, the late officer headed the Directorate of Health and Social Welfare for several years before retiring in 2007.
Until his unfortunate demise, late Dr. Oloyede was a member of the National Stakeholders Committee on Prisons Reform and Decongestion under the chairmanship of the Federal Capital Territory Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Ishaq Bello.
