Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu accompanied by his counterpart from Ebonyi State yesterday flagged off the reconstruction of the PAba Port Harcourt road with these promises .
"I want to make a solemn promise today. Port Harcourt Road will be the fastest road we will build.
We must commission this road in about one year from today. We will complete the payment for this road in three tranches only. Money won't be a challenge to the realization of this project.
This road shall be a dual carriage way of six lanes, three lanes on each side. There shall be a dedicated bus lane. There shall be brand new and solid drainages from the start of the road to the end. We have discovered how to channel all the water to the Aba River.
We want to encourage night business here and so, this road shall come with a full complement of street lights.
When I was discussing this project with my brother Governor from Ebonyi State who is a First Class Civil Engineer, he told me to move one step further and deliver a road that will last several decades.
He advised me to use the CEMENT TECHNOLOGY on this road. I know this will involve additional costs but I listened to him and took his advise. And so the entire project will be done using the RIGID CEMENT TECHNOLOGY. I shall sit down with the Contractors and work out the additional cost for that. I am determined to turn this road into a construction spectacle".
