All seems not to be well with one of
Nigeria’s electricity companies, the Ikeja Electricity Company.
CKN News exclusive investigation revealed that
the company is finding it difficult to pay it’s workers salaries despite the
huge income it generates monthly.
In a memo to its workers obtained by
CKN News, the company which is one of the most strategically located Disco’s
informed its staff why their salaries will be delayed in April 2017.
This is a copy of the notice.
Dear Colleagues,
This is to update you on the reason behind the non-payment of salaries
as at this date.
Our collection as of today, April 28, is still below the expected
minimum threshold considering the fact that Ikeja Electric will have to pay for
the energy delivered to us by the market operator who will naturally bill IE
irrespective of our good or poor collection performance.
Management is mindful of the effort that is currently being made by all
staff to ensure we meet the expected April collection performance that can
offset our operating expenses, of which staff salaries is one of the major
components.
Having said that, kindly be assured you that all
efforts are being made to ensure that salaries will be paid on or before the
middle of next week.
Best regards,
Employee Relations
