This is surely not the best time for
the families, friends and fans of Ogidi, Anambra State born actor, Mr. Obi Madubogwu, who is
lying critically ill at the surgical ward of the Federal Medical Centre, Ebute
Metta, Lagos.
The
thespian, who rose to stardom as the King of Musanga in the epic, Battle of
Musanga, was diagnosed of acute diabetes.The illness had extended to his kidney
and neck and the family ran short of fund to continue giving him what he needed
such as surgery, tests and medication among others, else they will amputate his
leg to save his life.
He
narrated his ordeal to concerned colleagues led by President of Directors Guild
of Nigeria, DGN, Mr. Fred Amata.
With his
supportive wife, madam Obianuju present, Madubogwu explained his ordeal thus:
'It hasn't been easy at all. I came out of coma after a toxic battle with
diabetic wound. They had resolved, and my wife had reluctantly signed,
for the affected left leg to be amputated.
"Because,
according to the doctors, it was better for the leg to go and save the life
than take an undue risk. But at the end of the day, they scrapped the mostly
affected part of the wound on the leg, are on further observations.
"They
gave me their words and what I need is the needed fund to make me get up from
this bed."
We
reliably confirmed from relatives around who wouldn't want their names on
prints that he takes a pint of blood daily. One of them said that Madubogwu
needs our support urgently, adding that no amount is too small."
Earlier
in a post online by Ifeanyi Ikpoenyi, he pleaded to blood donors: ' You
can donate blood at the hospital. It's really critical. We can save the life of
this actor with flair for helping the needy, a man with a touch of love.
"We must all join hands to save
a life and not to wait until the worst happens and we will sow ASHEBI and
dance, glorify him, eat the small change the family may borrow and
shout.. Aru eme! Let's save this brother and great actor and heaven will
be happy with us."
