ABIA GOVT COMMENCE CONSTRUCTION OF 170KM OF ROADS ACROSS 17 LGA



In fulfilment of his campaign promise to open up the rural areas to enhance their economic development, Abia state Governor,Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has flagged off the construction of 170 km roads across the 17 Local Government Areas.


In the construction of the roads under the state government rural road programme , the governor said each of the 17 local government areas would get a minimum of 10 km of asphalted roads.


Speaking at the flag off ceremony and commissioning of the 4.7km Owerrinta-Egbelu Mbutu road in Isiala Ngwa South LGA, the Governor said that the agricultural revolution of his administration would not be complete without a net work of rural road to ease the evacuation of farm products to markets or processing centres.


The governor who also flagged off the construction of theIsieke/Ukome Ibeku and the Orieoji, Umuchime Osaah/Afara Road in UmuahiaNorth LGA promised to complete the roads in three months.


He said that the roads will interconnect each other and make for easier movement and evacuation of farm produce within the rural areas.
