ABIA BANS REVENUE AGENTS FROM 2017

Abia State Government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure increase in her internally generated revenue from the 2017 fiscal year.

To this effect, the state has banned the use of agents as revenue collectors in the state in 2017.

A statement signed by the State's Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, who is also the Chairman of the State's Internally Generated Revenue Council reads:

"This is to inform all concerned that, the IGR Policy of the state did not provide for appointment of revenue agents.

"MDAs are by this notice directed not to appoint any agent for the year 2017, as Abia State Government will not be held liable for any contravention.

"All Revenue matters must be directed to the IGR council. Please be guided."

Abians, particularly residents of Abia and Umuahia, are therefore requested to avoid paying any revenue agent or "consultant" who claims to be acting on behalf of the state from the fiscal year 2017 and going forward.
