The
Interim Council Chairman of Jema'a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Dr.
Bege Katuka has imposed a 24-hour curfew with immediate effect following the
renewed killing of about 20 persons at Godogodo chiefdom between Saturday and
Sunday.
Katuka said there was an attack on Saturday at Godogodo when suspected herders attempted to lay siege on the village. The gunmen, he said, stormed the village and shot at innocent persons but were immediately engaged by the Joint Task Force.
Godogodo
chiefdom had in the last two months suffered continuous bloody invasion by
herders who have claimed lives and destroyed properties as well as farm
produce.
Katuka said the curfew was imposed to bring the situation under control.
When contacted, the Kaduna State Police Command spokesman, ASP Aliyu Usman confirmed the incident.
