Muhammadu Buhari receives Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka at the State House

Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka,
yesterday visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa
in Abuja.
They had a closed-door meeting that lasted about an hour inside the president’s office.
This
was Soyinka’s first visit to the nation’s seat of power since Buhari assumed
duty as president on May 29, 2015.
Soyinka had on February 18, 2016 expressed concern on the nation’s dwindling economy and urged Buhari to convene an emergency economic conference with a view to enabling experts diagnose the problems and recommend the way forward.
The Presidency was silent on the agenda of yesterday’s meeting.
But Soyinka told State House reporters after the meeting that he was at the Villa to discuss general matters, both national and international, with the president.
Soyinka, accompanied by a public relations specialist, Yomi Ogunbiyi, told newsmen: “I didn’t come to see you people. I came to discuss national and international matters, general matters, that is all.”
He urged the newsmen to reserve their questions till about a week when he would hold a news conference.
