The former Chairman, House of
Representatives Committee on Appropriations, Abdulmumin Jibrin, yesterday asked
law enforcement agencies to begin investigation and prosecution of some leaders
of the House and jail them for allegedly padding the 2016 budget.
Jibrin spoke while addressing journalists at the Police Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he personally submitted petitions against Speaker of the House of Representative, Yakubu Dogara, Deputy Speaker Yussuf Lasun, Minority Whip Alhassan Doguwa, Minority Leader Leo Ogor and nine other members of the House who served as committee chairpersons.
He said: “We were at the ICPC, where we met with the
chairman; also the DSS, we were also at the EFCC and concluding here at the
Police Force Headquarters.”
He added that: “We have submitted the petitions, so I have done my own part, I have given my word that I will give maximum support and cooperation to the security and anti corruption agencies to commence investigation with immediate effect, so that by the grace of God prosecution can start.”
He demanded “thorough investigation and very quick prosecution so that we can send some people to jail.”
Abdulmumin Jibrin accused the House Members in the petition of padding the 2016 National budget, while denying allegations of doing same as Chairman House Committee on Appropriations.
