Atiku Abubakar during a visit to Buhari in London yesterday |
President Muhammadu Buhari has extended his medical vacation by five days and will be back to the country on Sunday. He was earlier scheduled to return to the country yesterday.
Speaking to State House Correspondents yesterday, acting president, Yemi Osinbajo, said that he had spoken with the president and he was in good condition.
He said, “The president will be back on Sunday. I spoke with him yesterday evening and I think it is just the best that he takes the weekend off.
“Mr President is in good condition, he is very well. He should take a day or two off in London and rest a bit and come back hale and hearty on Sunday and be ready for work on Monday.”
With the extra 3 days, the president would have spent 14 days on vacation by Sunday.
It will be recalled that the presidency had released a statement on June 5 to the effect that President Buhari would take 10 days off and travel to London on Monday, June 6, 2016, to rest.
According to the statement, during the holiday, he will see an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist for a persistent ear infection.
The president had been examined and treated by his personal physician and an ENT specialist in Abuja, but both doctors recommended further evaluation purely as a precaution.
