FRSC BOSS EXPRESES SOLIDARITY WITH MUSLIMS AS RAMADAN FAST COMMENCES

Following the announcement on Sunday by the Sultan of Sokoto and President of the Nigeria Supreme Council For Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Saad Abubakar 111 of the sighting of the moon of Ramadan in several locations in Nigeria and commencement of the Ramadan fast on Monday, 6th June, 2016, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Boboye Oyeyemi has expressed solidarity with the Muslims across the country, saying his staff would be on duty to assist in effective traffic management during the one month spiritual activity.

In a press  statement by Bisi Kazeem, Head, Media Relations and Strategy, FRSC Oyeyemi shortly  after the formal announcement by the Sultan,  noted that as a human centered organization, FRSC has relevance in all human activities, saying with the number of people that would be participating in the Ramadan fast coupled with the envisaged traffic implications, adequate proactive measures to address cases of traffic violation and gridlocks arising from those that may be in a hurry to reach their homes to break the fast have been put in place.

“Ensuring that people obey traffic rules and regulations as well as efficient traffic management during the month is one way we would assist Nigerians who are fasting and all other road users to reach their destinations safely and freely during the period, and we are committed to that,” he stated.

While wishing all Nigerian Muslims successful Ramadan fast, the Corps Marshal enjoined road users to obey traffic rules and regulations, saying consideration for other road users is a religious obligation which everyone must observe. Oyeyemi particularly called on FRSC staff to rededicate themselves to the efforts to make the nation’s highways safe and obstruction-free. “I wish all my staff who would be participating in the Ramadan fast a successful experience and abundant reward for the act,” he further stated.

It would be recalled that Fasting from dusk to dawn during the month of Ramadan is the third pillar of Islamic religion, which every matured and healthy Muslim is expected to observe.  .
