Eight Kano State secondary school
students and a driver have lost their lives in a car accident that occurred in
Ibadan, gathered.
The incident occurred Tuesday night while the students were returning to Kano from Lagos state where they represented Kano in the just concluded National Competition for Science Secondary Schools.
It was gathered that one of the
tyres of the bus that was carrying 12 students burst and the driver lost
control, resulting to the death of nine persons, including the driver of the
bus.
Three other students who were injured in the crash were admitted in a hospital in Oyo state while the corpses of the deceased and the survivors were returned to Kano yesterday around 6pm.
Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje received the corpses at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA).
The funeral prayer would be observed today (Thursday) at the Emir’s palace by 9am, while the burial would take place at Tarauni Graveyard.
Meanwhile, Governor Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has condoled with his Kano State counterpart following the death of the eight students and their driver.
Ajimobi spoke when he visited the eight surviving victims of the accident at the Accident and Emergency ward of the UCH, where he offered to pick their bills until they were discharged from the hospital.
