TWO DIE IN PETROL STATION INFERNO


Two people were reported killed yesterday in Kano following a fire outbreak at A. A Rano filling station located along Bompai road in the state metropolis.

The fire which erupted from a petrol tanker around 2pm escalated to some nearby buildings and destroyed properties worth millions of naira. 

A witness of the incident, Yahaya Mohammed said, “The tanker was offloading fuel when the hose got disconnected and fuel spilled on the ground.

The next thing we saw was fire and explosion which made us to run for safety.”

He said there was nothing they could do as even the fire service officials had to seek re-enforcement from some private companies. The Head of Crisis Management of the Nigerian Security and Civil

Defense Corps of Kano Command, Alhaji Abdulhamid Salisu said they received a distress call and mobilized their men to the scene to prevent hoodlums from looting.
