The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced
the postponement of the 2016 batch A, stream II orientation course, scheduled
to commence on Saturday.
This was disclosed in a statement released by the scheme yesterday, stating that the new date would be announced in due course.
“The management of the National Youth Service Corps
regrets to announce the postponement of the 2016 Batch ‘A’ (Stream II)
Orientation course scheduled to commence on Saturday, May 21 due to logistics
reasons,” the statement read.
“We enjoin all prospective corps members to watch out
for a new date to be announced later.”
This is the second time the orientation course is being
postponed owing to logistics which, inside sources revealed, has to do with
lack of funds.
However, in a statement issued on Tuesday, NYSC thanked the government for its intervention, saying “the orientation would go on as planned with Federal Government releasing a sum of N13billion to assist the agency to pay outstanding allowances of corps members and finance other activities.
Prospective corps members were, however, assured that a new date will soon be fixed for their orientation as soon as the NYSC sorts out necessary logistics.
