The
Commissioner for the Environment, Dr. Babatunde Adejare, on behalf of the Lagos
State Government, has promoted the KAI operatives that sustained injuries
during the enforcement exercise at Ile-Epo Market in Agbado Oke-Odo Local
Council Development Area of the State last week.
Dr.
Adejare and his team, who visited the KAI Brigade Headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja
on Friday to check on the wounded operatives, announced the immediate
elevation of three injured officers, namely Mr. Okoh Chukwueku Innocent, Mr.
Akinnitire Abayomi Samuel and Mr. Akinsanya Bolaji Sewanu.
The
Commissioner also seized the opportunity to pledge the unflinching support of
the state government to KAI operations in its effort to promote and sustain a
clean, healthy and safe environment.
He
however urged the officials to show more commitment and rededicate themselves
to effective service delivery, adding that the on-going rebranding efforts of
the Agency must usher in a KAI Brigade imbued with dignity.
Dr.
Adejare disclosed that a panel of inquiry would be set up to determine the
immediate and remote cause or causes of the attack, affirming that the report
would dictate the next line of action to be taken in order to forestall such
ugly incident in the future.
He
further directed that the KAI operatives attached to the market at Ile-Epo,
Agbado Oke-Odo should be redeployed pending the outcome of the inquiry.
While
noting that the courts will determine the fate of the attackers arrested during
the incident, Adejare assured that the present administration would not relent
in its efforts in bringing sanity to the area.
Top
government officials in the visiting team include the Special Adviser to the
Governor on Environment, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe and the General Manager, Drain
Ducks, Mr. Akeem Apatira.
