State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has suspended the State Commissioner for
Finance, Dr Fred Kpakol and the State Accountant General, Sir Abere Dagogo.

statement by Simeon Nwakaudu, Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor on
Electronic Media said the suspension takes immediate effect.
No reason was given for the suspension of the two top government functionaries but sources from Government House said their suspension was not unconnected to the over bloated wage bill of the state.

The Governor directed last week that civil servants should obtain their bank verification numbers before they could receive their salaries. The Governor's directive was a measure towards checking ghost worker,it was learnt.
