Against criticisms over his decision to file a case in the court for the release of detained National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party,Olisa Metuh, human right lawyer Ebun Olu Adegboruwa has come out to defend his decision.
This was what he posted on his facebook page
"Court Case To Free Olisa Metuh
I'm compelled to comment on this matter because of certain misapprehension of my role in this case.
My concern is that every government must respect basic human rights and freedoms, simple. I'm not interested in PDP or APC, as the case may be. I just want a society that is based on good governance. I personally don't like an atmosphere of dictatorship, that's all.
I was not briefed by Olisa Metuh to file the case. He presently represents the face of the opposition in Nigeria, and through him, we get to hear the other side of the story, different from what the ruling government is feeding us with. This was what Alhaji Lai Mohammed did and Nigeria hailed him then.
I've never met Olisa Metuh and I don't need to meet him. My point is, if there is a case against him, then charge him to court, or release him on bail, or something. You can't just arrest somebody and keep him in detention and be boasting that you will not release him. That is not democracy.
I paid for the case myself and I will prosecute it myself. I was at the Federal High Court, in April, 2015, to insist that General Buhari could not be disqualified from contesting the presidential election.
I really I'm not moved by insults of the apologists of the ruling government, as long as I'm led in my spirit to do anything, I can't be stopped by anybody. And because God has been kind enough to pay my bills, I'm not accountable to PDP or APC apologists."
