Senator Ekwunife |
Ekwunife who formally announced her defection to APC at the weekend from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP made a surprise appearance at the national Secretariat of APC at about 1.00pm in a Mercedes Viano black colour car with regis¬tration number BWR 180 RP and was seen moving from one office to the other with¬out any of the party officials attending to her.
Dependable sources at the party headquarters told newsmen that the national chairman of APC was not billed to see the former sena¬tor.
One of the sources said that the former senator was at the party Secretariat to lobby the party leaders for her to secure Anambra sena¬torial ticket without going through the primary.
When newsmen ap¬proached her to clarify some issues regarding her defec¬tion she simply look the oth¬er way and said she was not in the mood to talk.
Ekwunife at the weekend revealed that she joined the APC because the PDP was no longer interested in win¬ning the Anambra Central senatorial election which is expected to hold in March.
She said part of her rea¬son was to ensure that her people are well and equita¬bly represented and have a voice in the national govern¬ment.
Reacting to the develop¬ment, Minister for Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, had however said that the former PDP sena¬tor will not be given an au¬tomatic ticket to contest for the Anambra Central Sena¬torial election in March 2016.
