The Ogun State Government has ordered that markets in Ota, which were sealed over violation of environmental laws be reopened.
It said the markets, closed down on Monday, as a result of indiscriminate refuse dump, be reopened for business after the market men and women cleaned up the markets.
State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dayo Adeneye who announced this in a statement today, enjoined market men and women as well as residents of Ota area to ensure that their environments are kept clean at all time, maintain environmental laws and not dump their garbage on the median or drainage.
The government also warned residents and traders in Ifo, Mowe/ Ibafo and Ijebu Ode areas of the state, which will be the next destination of the government’s team, out to enforce environmental laws, to comply with the laws, saying government would not hesitate to wield the big stick on anyone who violates the rule.
He warned that government would strictly enforce the law on anyone who runs foul of the law, enjoining residents to maintain a healthy and clean environment.
