Members of Radio, Television and Theatre Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU) in Ogun State have been charged to project the State positively in order to make the State a tourist delight and investors destination of choice.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief. Adedayo Adeneye gave the charge while declaring open the media week organised by RATTAWU OGBC Chapter tagged “Effect of Radiation on Reproductive Health and General Well Being” in Abeokuta.
Adeneye said RATTAWU is one of the Unions that drive the Broadcasting Industry in the Country, adding that their contributions to the socio-economic development of the country cannot be over emphasized.
The Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Ibikunle Onasanya said in a bid to ensure that OGBC was not left out in the on-going digitalization era, Government had procured and commissioned the station’s new digital equipment as part of its move to ensure full digitalization of the station, adding that Government also procured work stations and other equipment that could operate for 24/7 and remodelled the station’s website.
“I am sure you realise that a media person does not have the luxury of time with respect to getting reports out, you must therefore be active on your job all day through , knowing fully well that your job is a Yeoman’s job”, he said.
OGBC General Manager, Engr. Tunde Awolana appreciated the presence of the Commissioner, noting that two experts have been invited to lecture them on the effect of Radiation on Reproductive Health and General well being of the members of staff.
Chairman RATTAWU, OGBC Chapter, Mr. Lanre Ogundeyi said they would use the week to educate and inform members about their health, stressing that they operate in radiation environment and they need to be educated on its health hazard.
