As part of the effort to improve on its service delivery in disseminating accurate and timely information to the teeming populace, the Ogun State Ministry of Information and Strategy has presented to the House of Assembly a sum of #715,000,000.00 million as its total expenditure for year 2016 fiscal year.
The budget has it recurrent expenditure as #490 million and its capital expenditure as #225 million.
The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief Adedayo Adeneye in his presentation said measures have also been put in place to increase the 2015 Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) which was #4,118,000.00 to #17.1 million by 2016.
Adeneye said part of the measures put in place to increase its IGR in 2016 is to commercialize its public address equipment, video services for public and official purposes, and the Ministry’s Public Enlightenment programmes on both Radio and Television whereby Companies and Individuals would be motivated to sponsor and advertise on the four programmes produced by the Ministry.
The Commissioner added that the Ministry also intend to have a short message service code on reputable network provider where citizens will log their complaints or information to Government through SMS at lower rate.
“The best way to compliment efforts of Senator Ibikunle Amosun rebuilding mission is to ensure increment in the State IGR so as to deliver more dividends of democracy to the citizens of the State. Part of our effort is to provide content for the Ogun State website through collation of activities of MDAs in the State, collection of stipends for the publication of social dairy, adverts and change of name in Ogun update. Commercialize the Ministry public address equipment and video services for public and official purposes, commercialization of the Ministry Public Enlightenment programmes on both Radio and Television whereby Companies and Individuals would be motivated to sponsor and advertise on the four programmes produced by the department” he said
He however, assured the members of the Committee of developmental strides in the Ministry and other agencies under it by 2016.
Earlier, the General Manager, Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC) Engr. Tunde Awolana presented a total expenditure of #513 million to the house Committee on Information, while his OGTV counterpart Engr. Dele Bolujoko also presented #1.381 billion as the 2016 total expenditure while the General Manager, Ogun State Signage and Advertising Agency (OGSAA) also presented a total expenditure of #538 million.Also,the General Manager, Ogun State Printing Corporation, Mrs Oyinkansola Cole presented a total expenditure of #260,687,000.00 and Bureau of Information Technology, earlier proposed #185 million as its 2016 total expenditure but was asked to reduce it to #50 million due to little activities of the Bureau.
Also speaking, the Chairman House committee on Information, Hon. Oludare Kadiri, Commended the Ministry for its efforts at projecting the activities and programmes of the Government, urging the Ministry and other Agencies under it to work harmoniously in order to achieve the set goals and objectives of the Government.
