ROCHAS OKOROCHA CUTS DOWN MINISTRIES FROM 22 TO 13 IN IMO

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has reduced ministries in the state from 22 to13.
In a statement issued in Owerri yesterday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, said the reduction followed the disturbing economic situation in the country which had compelled the federal and state governments to adopt certain measures.
Okorocha said the reduction was to make the ministries effective and productive.
The statement said the decision was taken at a joint meeting of senior government officials, permanent secretaries and the governor.
According to him, those in attendance thoroughly reviewed the functions of all the ministries and the challenging situation in the country and the states at the moment, and saw the need to restructure the ministries to reflect the general circumstances in the country and make them responsive and result-oriented.
He said the permanent secretaries in the affected ministries and the staff would be moved to other ministries, adding that the measure would not in any way lead to loss of jobs.
He said with the 13 ministries left to function, there would be a blue-print on how to make them solid and viable to achieve the desired results
