The president maintained that the constitution only stipulates that there must be a minister from each state of the federation.
Buhari spoke this afternoon while receiving from Senate President Bukola Saraki, the list of the 36 ministers-designate confirmed by the Senate.
He explained that he limited the list of his ministerial nominees to 36 because of the constitutional provision that stipulates that ministers must come from all states.
The president was silent on whether all his ministers would be assigned portfolios but said all the 36 ministers would be "sitting in the cabinet".
Buhari thanked the Senate for its work and assured that he would continue to follow the constitution.
Earlier, the Senate President had told the president that he was at the Presidential Villa to formally present to Buhari, the list of the 36 ministerial nominees confirmed by the Senate.
