FIELDING GOODLUCK JONATHAN IN 2015 WAS A BIG MISTAKE..PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has apologised to Northern leaders for not giving the region the party's presidential ticket in the March/April 2015 general elections.

The party also apologised to all Nigerians whom it stepped on their toes during its 16 years of governance at the federal level, saying it is repositioning to bounce back in 2019 and deliver dividends of democracy to the people.

Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, chairman of PDP national conference organising committee, Chief Raymond Dokpesi said the PDP had made a lot of mistakes in the past but that the first fundamental mistake was the jettisoning in 2011, the power shift pact within the party.

Dokpesi who is leading a 53-member committee said President Umaru Musa Ya'adua had died while in power and instead of the PDP to allow a Northerner to complete his tenure, the party fielded former President Goodluck Jonathan, from the South, who was acting President, as its presidential candidate in 2011.

Dokpesi also argued that in 2015 when it was expected that the party would field a Northern candidate, party leaders unanimously adopted Jonathan as the sole Presidential candidate, leading to the party's defeat at the elections

  1. I disagree that PDP was defeated: Please read my take on this elsewhere:
All comments here are mere naivety! In a country the British colonialists brought together nearly 22 nations and all stake holders are not allowed to get to the top is pure madness and alliance of strange bed-fellows. Check out the FEC and we will all agree that the North (always agitating to continue ruling Nigeria) have messed up the country both those in Agbada and Khaki. What have they to offer which they have not been able to offer Nigeria for the past 45 years since Independence? The simple truth is that the North wanted to rule at all COST, and that is what will bring Nigeria to its knees sooner than we all here talking rubbish will expect. Nigeria is sitting merely on a keg of gun-power (believe it or leave it). As long as no other composing tribes in Nigeria is fit to rule Nigeria except Hausa/Fulani and like bokoharam, they do not think/reason properly, Nigeria will soon hit the rocks at the detriment and amazement of everybody including the West! One would ask 'What stops the North from reasoning that no South East or South-South is a member of the FEC (except Jonathan now)? They cannot think at all: just like they did not think during the civil war. The federal soldiers were desperately standing while advancing and shooting, which cost them so much soldiers; thanks to their polygamous nature, even till today - bokoharam's onslaught would have long been felt in the North East if not their minimum four-wives religion, which sees a man having nothing more than 30 children and grand children. Thanks also to their non-circumcision stance which makes both female and male highly sexually active. My central message is that Hausa/Fulani (the North) should reason properly and bring on board all stake-holding 250/300 tribes in Nigeria if they want us to remain ONE. Else, whether Jonathan was fielded was not the issue; they wanted POWER return to them. PERIOD! If we have ear, let us hear! Finally, let us note the fact that Asia has intercontinental ballistic missiles that have not been tested and anyone thinking that another civil war will be like what it was in 1967-70 is a BIG FOOL now! USSR decimated into 12 countries and nothing happened, that is how Nigeria will soon decimate. Sudan, Serbia, and other countries got their independence from their countries and nothing happened. Their quest for this was born out of what is happening in Nigeria now. Jonathan was not the problem because all PDP members from the North conspired to ensure that a Northerner was elected. We have the facts to buttress this. Minutes of their nocturnal meetings abroad and here in Nigeria are in our possession. Child voters as well proved what I say here. Jega's antics were not equally hidden. 30,000 extra polling units; issuance of pvcs to all who voted in 2011 in the North while those in the South were not issued are pointers to his undoing. Lets thank God someone like Jona was there at the material time to save our lives. What would have happened if a man of do-or-die stance was to be there? And who is he? Your guess is as good as mine. Bless u.
