SERIAKE DICKSON TO EMBARK ON MEET THE PEOPLE TOUR

Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson has decided to commence a meet the people tour from next weekend. The governor dropped the hint, Tuesday, at the Banquet Hall, Yenagoa, during an interaction session with all the paramount and community leaders in the state.
According to the governor, “This is campaign season. I intend to reach out to reach out to as many communities as possible. I do not want to you to see me in your domain without a notice. my intention is to pay homages to paramount rulers during such visits. so you will be reached a day or two before coming. We are fully aware that this is a PDP state, so it is going to be more of a meet-the-people tour, more than a campaign trip. “
He reminded the leaders that the primary responsibilities of putting your communities together are in your hands, just as he pointed out that, “We want a peaceful atmosphere because it is going to be one–man, one-woman vote affair.”
He further allayed any fears about possible intimidation of any body as adequate security will complement those to be provided by each community as they have to partner in ensuring a free and fair polls.
His words: When you hear people claiming to have federal powers to take over Bayelsa State just ignore them. It does not work when people are determined to vote in a government of their choice, which is why PDP never took the whole country while it was in power at Abuja. PDP did not take Lagos, even Edo State and Imo State went to APC. So this election is about your votes, and not guns and violence.
“Trouble makers shouldn’t be encouraged, what we need is peace. So go and sensitize your people. cooperate with INEC, police and all relevant authorized agencies that is saddled with the conduct of the elections. Interestingly, all results will be announced in each unit, and by the time you compute them you will know who the winner is at the end of the day.”
He admonished them to be above board, adding that, “I am not expecting everybody to vote me, which I will prefer as a politician. But I know that with the standard we have set, the difference we have made, and you have seen how I have worked ; connecting communities with roads and bridges, built schools, and most importantly we have presented a peaceful state.”
