Amuwa, who was attached to the 17 MOPOL squad in Akure, was allegedly stabbed in the neck by Wunmi, who also had bruises on her face 0from the beatings meted out to her by the Inspector. The incident ,which occurred at the Olu foam area of Akure, the state capital, threw residents into confusion, while they wondered at what may have caused the disagreement between the two lovers.
The remains of the late police inspector have been deposited at the morgue of a private hospital in Akure.
According to a source, the deceased and Wunmi met shortly after he lost his wife and they had always been having domestic disagreement since their coming together .
It was learnt that at Ijapo Police Station where Wunmi was initially detained, she confessed to have stabbed him in self-defence.
It was also gathered that after she had stabbed him, she sought the help of neighbours to rush him to a private hospital after the policeman fainted and blood rushing from his neck where he was stabbed became uncontrollable.
Commenting on the incident, Chairman of the Ayegbaju resident association, Taiwo Owanikin, who said there were many conflicting reports on what really transpired, described the incident as shocking.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO , Mr Femi Joseph said the suspect, now in police custody is already providing useful information on the incident.
