THE AUTHORITY NEWSPAPER UNVEILED IN ABUJA

The management of The Authority Media and Communications Limited, yesterday announced that its three titles; The Authority Daily, The Authority on Saturday and The Authority Sunday, have been rolled-out to take a special place in Nigeria’s print journalism.
The Managing Director of The Authority, Mr. Madu Onuorah, while unveiling the brand at a press briefing yesterday in Abuja, noted that The Authority-team would practice journalism with full adherence to the ethics of the profession, adding that blackmail and other unethical practices would be vehemently discouraged.
He said: “Starting from last Thursday, The Authority, published in three titles; The Authority Daily, The Authority on Saturday and The Authority Sunday, has taken a big place in print media journalism in Nigeria, integrity of the newspaper will be protected at all time.”
According to the managing director, the media is the only medium which has ensured the unity of Nigeria.
Onuorah who is the immediate past Bureau Chief, Abuja Bureau of The Guardian Newspaper, said the team parades seasoned journalists and media administrator who would match hardwork with good business plan.
According to him, The Authority would survive impending challenges in the industry, as it would be purely run as business with core ethics of journalism.
“We shall work to protect democratic values and the rule of laws, and principles of excellence. The Authority is not going to be a mouthpiece for anybody or any political interest, there will be a good synergy between a good workforce and a good business plan,” Onuorah said.
Seasoned journalists listed among The Authority pioneer team include former Abuja Bureau Chief of Daily Independent Joe Nwakwo, who is the Executive Director and for Editor, Nations Capital of THISDAY Newspaper , Mr. Chuks Akunna, who is the Executive Director in charge of Business Development.
