Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday narrowly escaped death along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The former President was said to be on his way to the 80th birthday ceremony of the Pool Manager, Sir Kesington Adebunkola Adebutu, when the incident happened.
It was gathered that one of the rear tyres of the Lexus SUV Jeep in which he was travelling burst along the road. It was also gathered that the vehicle lost control but information revealed that the former President was said to have alighted safely from the vehicle and joined another one in his convoy.
Although it was not confirmed whether Obasanjo was injured or not, it was however confirmed that he was said to have headed straight to Adebutu’s 80th birthday church service before jetting out of the country.
But in it's reaction last night,the FRSC debunked the story that former President,Olusegun Obasanjo was today involved in an auto crash..This was disclosed in a telephone interview Mr Bisi-Kazeem , FRSC's Head of Media Relations and Strategy of the agency had with CKN News ..According to him,Chief Obasanjo was never involved in any crash as been reported . He said rather,his vehicle had a blown up tyre.When this occured,he moved into his back up vehicle to continue his journey, while the tyre was eventually changed and the vehicle left the scene around the Sagamu interchange on Lagos -Ibadan expressway
