FRSC HAS FULLY IMPLEMENTED THE TREASURY SINGLE ACCOUNT---OYEYEMI

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi has stated that the Corps has fully implemented the Treasury Single Account (TSA) in line with the directives of the Federal Government. Oyeyemi disclosed this today while declaring open a three day workshop organised for the FRSC accounts staff by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation towards the efficient implementation of the new accounting policy by the Federal Government.
In a press release signed by Bisi Kazeem, Head, Media Relations and Strategy, Oyeyemi applauded the Federal Government for introducing the policy, stating that its efficient implementation could standardise the accounting system of the Federal Government, stressing that the FRSC has fully implemented it. According to him, in accordance with the directives, all the Corps’ accounts with the commercial banks have been closed down following the commencement of the implementation of the policy on 15 September, 2015. “The new policy is a welcome development and capable of standardising the accounting system of the Federal Government.
The Corps Marshal further disclosed that FRSC is one of the first public institutions to have complied with the policy and called on all the accounting staff of the Corps to embrace it as well, pointing out that the workshop was being organised to ensure that all the accounting staff got enlightenment on it.
In his remarks, Mr Destco Mugabi, the project manager of the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) who represented the Accountant General of the Federation, commended the FRSC for its diligent accounting system, saying the office of the Accountant General of the Federation has been impressed by the compliance of the FRSC to the new policy as it is one of the agencies of the Federal Government to have fully complied with the new policy.
According to Mr Mugabi, FRSC has been doing well by ensuring that its generated fines were always remitted fully to the Federation Accounts. He stressed the importance of the workshop, saying it was being organised to enlighten the accounts officers of the Corps on the new accounting policy in order to facilitate its implementation in the Corps. He therefore called on the participants to take advantage of the workshop by educating themselves on all that they need to know about the policy in order to make its implementation easier.
The Three day workshop had in attendance Assistant Corps Marshal in charge of Finance and Accounts, Dauda Biu, some principal officers of the Corps’ finance and accounts department at the Headquarters as well as accounts officers from the field commands across the country.
