FRSC BOSS OYEYEMI ASSURES OF SUSTAINED ROAD VIGILANCE

In continuation of the ongoing special Eid-el-Kabir patrol, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC. Boboye Oyeyemi has expressed satisfaction with the traffic situation across the country, saying there was no cause for alarm. He stated this in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital while monitoring traffic on some major roads leading to Ilorin township.

According to the Head, Media Relations and Strategy, Bisi Kazeem, the Corps Marshal says the operational strategies designed by the FRSC National Headquarters, Abuja to ensure crash and obstruction-free Sallah celebration have proved effective. He noted that reports so far received from across the commands indicate significant improvement in traffic management during the celebration with indications of fewer cases of road traffic crashes and obstructions as compared to same period last year. “Yesterday, I personally monitored traffic on Abuja-Kaduna road, and today, I have just monitored the traffic on some of the major roads leading to Ilorin township,” he stated.


“From what I have seen here and reports so far received from across the commands, we are satisfied with the overall traffic situation across the country,” he added..

The Corps Marshal, however appealed to motorists to continue to obey the traffic rules and regulations to ensure safety of all road users.

The Sector Commander of Kwara state, Sunday Maku who was part of the monitoring exercise in the state observed that the command has recorded significant success in this year’s special patrol as compared to last year, pledging to sustain the temp of activities throughout the remaining period of celebration and beyond.

The Corps Marshal is expected to continue with the road monitoring exercise to other parts of the South-West to round up the special Sallah operation, which commenced on Tuesday 22 September, 2015 with massive deployment of personnel and other patrol and rescue logistics.
