with Lagos State Governor Akinwummi Ambode of Lagos State ("Safest Lagos Campaign". ) and his commitment to ensure maximum security of lives and properties within the metropolis, the operatives of Rapid Response Squad, (RRS), have arrested 38 suspects who are alleged to be members of cult groups in Somolu area of the state.
The suspects were nabbed at wee hour on friday at about 2:13 am on August 5th, 2015
The team of policemen from RRS responded swiftly to distress calls from a concerned citizen about criminal activities and other unlawful engagements of the suspects in Somolu area of the state
.According to the tip off, the suspected cult members had announced to initiate new members of the public who are interested
The team of RRS operatives headed by supo Olabode Aroge immediately moved to scene while they were beating drums and some eating pepper soup . The team combed every where before they were fished out
Those who were caught at the point of arrest were 29 male and 9 female, and they were immediately conveyed to the squad's headquarters in Alausa, for further interrogation.
Following the Police's investigation, the suspects are amongst cultists and social miscreants disturbing the peace atmosphere in the area. " The suspects are terrorizing law abiding citizens in the area while some of them specialized in bag and handsets snatching, pick-pocketing and all other nefarious activities during day and night.
Having got the hint from a concerned resident in the area, 8 patrol teams from the RRS swooped on them ,and they were all nabbed in their different hideouts and bases in Somolu area of the state",
The Commander of RRS, ACP Olatunji Disu, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects, implores citizens to always furnish the Police with useful information.
According to him, " The Police cannot do much without information. As a result of this, we are appealing to the public to furnish us with useful information that will aid our Modus operandi ", the Commander noted.
ACP Olatunji Disu, further said that the operation of the Policemen is to complement commitment of the state Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, to rid the state of criminal activities by the people of underworld.
