The PDP chieftain raised the alarm in a petition addressed to the Inspector General of Police and entitled “Letter of Complaints to Threat to Life, Intimidation, Blackmail, by Senator Anyim Pius Anyim.”
He lamented that his life had been under serious threat since the time he blew open the alleged corruption and fraud allegedly perpetrated by Anyim in the Centenary City Project.
The letter signed by Ojougboh’s solicitors, Oludotun Sowemimo & Associates, imploring the police to investigate the matter, adding that further actions should be taken within the ambit of the law if the allegations were verified.
According the letter, during Ojougboh’s tenure as chairman of the board of Nigeria Export Processing Zonal Authority (NEPZA), “he discovered multiple instances of corruption and fraud which were brought to his attention via petitions written by various anti-corruption NGOs and in particular, the Nigeria Women Against Corruption, regarding the Centenary City Project.
“As a result of our client’s role at unraveling the allegation of fraud leveled Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, he was forcefully removed from office as a Chairman of the board of NEPZA.
“Our client has subsequently since then been serially inundated with dire threats to his life, blackmail, slander and gross intimidation.
“We also further aver and demand that while investigations into the matter are ongoing our client’s fundamental human rights as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria be protected.”
