IJAW GROUP ACCUSES BUHARI OF TRYING TO BLACKMAIL THEIR SON,GOODLUCK JONATHAN

THE Ijaw Peoples Development Initiative, IPDI, yesterday, described President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to probe the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan as a blackmail and witch-hunt.
National president of the group, Mr. Austin Ozobo, who also described it as an expression of tribal, religious and political sentiments, said the group was not against probing corrupt leaders, but the investigation should extend beyond the Jonathan administration to previous governments which leaders were corrupt.
He said: “We are not against probing corrupt leaders in the country, but it must not be centered on Jonathan and his cabinet alone. We have noticed that corrupt allegations levelled against Jonathan are cheap blackmail and attempt to rubbish his image for selfish agenda.
“If Buhari is so desirous to carrying out a probe, let him extend his probe to other past corrupt military Heads of State, democratic presidents and leaders of the country, including Buhari himself and not Jonathan alone.
“Buhari and his kitchen cabinet are not sacred cows, they were same past corrupt leaders, who have ruined this country in the past. Niger Delta is watching and will resist any witch-hunt and attempt to rubbish Jonathan by the Buhari government.”
