Ogun State, Senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu, has hailed both the electronic and print media organisations and the judiciary for being the voice of the voiceless following the six day siege laid in his premises by the operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Kashamu, who stated this yesterday in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP, expressed relieve after the agents of the NDLEA vacated his home.
He said, “On this note, I wish to particularly thank www.lindaikeji.blogspot.com, Channels Television, African Independent Television (AIT), Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Silverbird Television, Core TV, Wazobia FM, Inspiration FM, Classic FM, Rhythm FM, Cool FM, ThisDay, Vanguard, Daily Sun, The Punch, The Nation, Leadership, The Guardian, Tribune, Daily Independent, Daily Times, Sahara Reporters, British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and other traditional and social media organisations too numerous to mention for proving yet to be the voice of the voiceless.
“I am really grateful to the media and the judiciary and would forever live to cherish these institutions and their personnel. Words would fail me in showing my appreciation to you, but know that I owe you a debt of gratitude that I may never be able to repay.”
It would be recalled that the NDLEA agents had attempted to arrest him and facilitate his extradition to the United States to answer drug-related charges, but, Kashamu locked himself up in his bedroom ad refused to come out.
Consequently, he was placed under house arrest for six days until the NDLEA received a court order to vacate the premises.
