POLICE KILL TWO ARMED ROBBERS IN RIVERS,RECOVER STOLEN VEHICLES

Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command on Thursday engaged suspected armed robbers in a gun duel at Nchia, Eleme Local Government Area, killing two of the bandits in the process.
The police recovered one pump action gun, a locally made pistol, 15 live cartridges, one red mask and assorted charms.
State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ahmad Mohammad, disclosed that no police life was lost during the gun fire that lasted about 20 minutes.
Mohammad explained that the two robbers killed wore military camouflage trousers.
He said, “Our sustained onslaught on violent criminals and recovery of firearms in illegal hands in recent times in the state has continued to yield some significant triumphs.
“While responding to a distress call on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at about 4pm at Ogale-Nchia, Eleme, the Anti-Robbery Unit of Eleme Division, engaged suspected armed robbers in a fierce gun battle,” Mohammad said.
Mohammad recalled that six members of a car snatching gang were earlier arrested at Borikiri Sand Fill by the men of the Anti-Cultism Unit of the State Police Command.
He disclosed that a Toyota Camry car with registration number KFS 657 CN was recovered alongside three other vehicles suspected to have been stolen by the gang.
Mohammad also said, “At about 12pm on June 19, 2015 at Abuloma in Port Harcourt, teams of policemen acting on a tip-off, raided a waterfront suspected to be the hideout of a notorious and wanted suspected kidnapper/cultist.
“Items recovered from the enclave include two AK 47 rifles, five AK 47 magazines, 152 rounds of 7.62 live ammunition and different items suspected to be stolen.
“Also, on June 21,men of Anti-Cultism Unit, stormed Rumuekini forest and arrested 69 suspected cultists/robbers, two of whom were fatally wounded.
“Items recovered from them are two pump action guns, nine live cartridges, a Toyota Camry saloon care and other stolen items.
The police spokesman, however, warned criminals to leave the state or be ready to face the wrath of the law whenever they were apprehended.
